Reimagining the traditional; from the ancient Mayans, to modern-day mouths.
Most other tooth gem fittings focus purely on the aesthetics.
At Of Blood & Bones, we have reimagined & reclaimed the ancestral ways of adornment to excavate the deeper meaning beyond fashion statements, beauty standards & gender norms; to the roots of our unique expression.
ANCESTRAL ADORNMENT
Tooth talismans act as powerful activators, invoking the spirit of the ancestors.
In this rite of passage, the Earth’s bones are united with our own; acknowledging the interconnected structures that support our lives.
Adornments are carefully curated to support the intentions of each client. The jewellery pieces chosen are then blessed with sacred smoke before being sealed onto the bones; where they begin their work to protect & attract as you intend.
We use semi-permanent fittings made from Swarovski crystals, precious stones & gold. These pieces reflect our own bones symbolically & physically. Acting as reminders of our inherent endurance & regenerative powers.
ANCESTRAL ROOTS
“Aesthetic” dental modification dates back to thousands of years ago, with some of the earliest findings of tooth adornment discovered in 5000 year old Mayan tombs between Mexico & Guatemala featuring Jade, Obsidian & Serpentine fittings. Even earlier examples have come from the Etruscan civilisation in Italy.
During the 1980-1990’s tooth jewellery was made popular again through hip hop culture, with many music artists wearing gold grills across their teeth; a status symbol to communicate their success.
We are now seeing a huge revival of this type of body adornment, with new visions in creative styles & greater accessibility. We no longer need to fall into the category of “royal” or “celebrity” to wear tooth jewellry & create a statement with deeper roots.
B O N E S
Since ancient times, bones have held a sacred place in many shamanic traditions & spiritual practices across the world. Revered for their profound symbology of strength, endurance, and the cyclical nature of life & healing.
In Mayan spirituality, they are used as sacred tools used in divination practices, healing rituals & ceremony. They serve as bridges to the spiritual realm, embodying the essence of life & death as powerful conduits of ancestral wisdom.
Bones invoke the spirit of the ancestors, inviting us to apply deeper meaning to tooth adornments; receiving them as sacred offerings to the most foundational parts of ourselves & to those whom we owe our life.

Ethical Sourcing
We are committed to honouring our sacred responsibility as inhabitants of Earth.
We pride ourselves in offering top quality & ethically sourced tooth gems, stones & 18-24k gold jewellery.
We strive to minimise our impact on our planet through conscious use of materials involved, and always choosing earth-friendly options where possible.
This is anchored by our vision for a more conscious & connected world, and channeled with deep care, compassion, & consideration of all earthly resources, and those who make this work possible.
Ethical Practices
Parental consent is required for those under 16 years of age. You must be able to provide proof of age when requested. We accept children who have received permission from their care givers & have gotten their adult teeth through.
Gems are applied using a safe dental grade adhesive. The application is very gentle, requiring no drilling or damage the enamel on your teeth. Gems can only be applied to natural adult teeth. We do not fit gems onto cracked teeth, veneers, dentures, caps or bridges. Jewelery can last anywhere from six months to one year, but can also be removed earlier with a simple scale & polish with your dentist if desired.
Rarely gems falls off but if it happens that a Swarovski crystal or precious stone falls off before one month, a free replacement will be offered as a good will gesture. If you loose a gold gem, you will only be charged for the cost of the jewellery.
Additionally, clients may find it useful to take a look at our aftercare guidance below to pre-inform how to take care of tooth talismans. This can aid in making informed decisions on the day of a fitting, to ensure jewellery lasts & looks its best.

CLIENTS
KIND WORDS
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the most beautiful Luzura for creating my tooth bling and bringing me all the good luck with carefully selected jewels, to become wee talismans of their own and to look so cool on my teeth. Absolutely in love and couldn’t recommend them enough.
