CEREMONIAL CACAO

Sangre de la Tierra

“Blood of the Earth”

Rooted in the Mayan Cosmovision, as a sacred plant medicine for healing & connection.

In Mayan tradition, Cacao is not only a food but also ceremonial offering; used to align human consciousness with the cycles of the cosmos, foster community, and invoke balance between the seen & unseen realms. Revered as a gift from the trees & the gods, to open the heart, connect with the divine, and harmonise with the natural world.

The spirit of Cacao acts as a bridge between worlds— showing us how we can access & honour the ancient wisdom of our ancestral past. This plant provides a gentle, nourishing way to ground ourselves in the present, awaken our inner guidance, and foster community in our fast-paced, ever-evolving world.

Today, as we embrace Cacao in modern practice, we are reminded of the importance of heart-centred living, in alignment with the rythmns of nature & the cosmos. Helping us to cultivate greater presence, compassion & reciprocity in our communities. Cacao enables us to access our inner wisdom, tend to our inner waters & explore our creative fire.

SACBE CACAO

“Sacbe” is a Mayan word, which translates to ‘white road’ or ‘white path’.

It specifically refers to the ancient limestone coated roads built by the ancestors which enabled Cacao to travel through pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. The ancient Mayans were just one of the civilisations that revered Cacao as highly sacred, and as valuable as gold.

Sacbe Cacao is an heirloom Arriba Nacional strain of Cacao is grown and processed by indigenous farmers in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.

The Theobroma Cacao trees on the farm are tended to within a regenerative Andean Chakra System practiced by Kichwa communities, and recognised as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.

This means our Cacao is organic, never mono-cultured, and goes through a meticulous fermentation process ensuring high standards of cleanliness + quality. Depending on the batch, the Cacao may carry notes of passionfruit, banano, piña, canela, and more.

Fun Fact: Ecuador is considered the “birthplace” of human consumption of Cacao, due to archeological findings of drinking vessels containing remains dating back 5000 years.

“What an incredible journey it was to be part of this training. It was more than this, it was as much a personal rite of passage into Self as it was learning the medicine ways of Cacao and the elements. This was packed to the brim with embodiment practices, teachings and guidance from Luzura. They are a dream to watch and their devotion is exemplified in everything they do. This was a full mind, body, and soul experience; one not to be missed.”

“I joined Luzura for the training in October 2023 and I feel that I received everything that I needed and more. The course really exceeded my expectations and I went away feeling fully equipped to step into my new role as a Cacao Facilitator and guardian of this sacred medicine. Luzura has a wealth of knowledge on the Maya people and their ancient calendar, rituals, and traditions. I felt that they really honoured the lineage of Cacao, and delivered this course as a true wisdom keeper. Luzura’s teaching style is both multifaceted and fluid and they created a very unique learning environment. I am sure that I will be a student to Luzura for many years to come.”

“Cacao Facilitator training was one of the greatest gifts I gave myself. From the beginning the focus was on each of us feeling empowered and held. I wasn’t expecting to receive that depth of personal healing and wholeness. I was already an Elemental Practitioner before the training, but having freedom to strength my practice was invaluable. There was a focus on indigenous wisdom as well as practical knowledge, and I gained full confidence in myself as a guardian of Cacao.”
